Get to Know Maggie

Hi there, I’m Maggie. I have been painting for 40 years with love and care and a dedication to creating something exciting! I have lived in several places and now in Pensacola FL and ship paintings and custom orders in the US. My Pensacola life is busy and full, even though it’s been said that people are supposed to slow down in retirement! I have many good friends and lots loving family around me. Life is good!

Why I love what I do: I see something striking and get a desire to show you the emotions I feel at that moment, as the scene grabs and holds my attention.

How I paint: My artist’s right brain puts the paint down on the canvas, and my problem-solving left brain attacks the puzzle of how to make this picture on flat canvas convey the depth of the scene and the emotion I feel about it. I want to grab your attention like the scene grabbed mine.

My journey:  My art career began with pen and ink house portraits, then extended to watercolors and acrylics. Through the years, I studied design, perspective drawing, art history, composition, color theory, watercolor and acrylic painting. I sold watercolors in galleries in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Winston Salem NC, and published prints of historic buildings in Greensboro, Blowing Rock, and Kenansville NC. I was juried into the Virginia Watercolor Society and the North Carolina Watercolor Society.

I have enjoyed knowing artists in many towns, including Martinsville, VA, and Wilkesboro, NC, whre I had leadership roles in art leagues.

Life as an artist is truly exciting! I have been honored to receive awards and to be recognized in shows with groups of artists whom I admire. Since moving to Pensacola, my work has been selected for the Luna Fine Art Gallery's "Power of Transformation" 2024 exhibit and "Celebration of Women" 2025 exhibit.  I received an award at the Quayside Art Gallery paint-out, provided house portraits for the yearly Joyce Turner awards for the North Hill Preservation Association, and was published in the October 2024 issue of the Artist Closeup online magazine.

Thank you for being part of my art journey with your time and interest. That means a great deal to me! I love to hear feedback, so please feel free to contact me at any time with your comments and questions.
